Real talk: Therapy is a short-term investment in long-term life evolution folks!

Fees and Out-of-Network Reimbursement (aka The Nitty Gritty)

I am not in-network with any insurance companies.

I can only work with those clients living in NY and FL and I only provide telehealth at this time.

Sessions are currently $250 per session for 50min

Intakes are currently $325 for about 70-90min

Lowered rate spots: I do not currently have any full sliding-scale openings. However if needed, ask about a couple of spots I will have open at the lowered rate of $200 per session and we can discuss further.

I can provide a superbill for those with out-of-network benefits reimbursement. Please note that insurance companies may change their rules and regulations and what is not reimbursed by your insurance company is your responsibility.

You may wish to ask them: what your mental health out-of-network benefits are; what are your restrictions (if any) in seeing an out-of-net provider; how much will you be reimbursed for individual therapy per session; do you have a deductible; where do you send out-of-net superbills?

So why the heck don’t you and so many therapists take insurance anymore? What gives?

Please keep in mind folks that my decision to no longer take insurance was not an easy one for me.

I am someone who has taken insurance previously as well as someone who has worked many years for a top health insurance company and this has heavily influenced my decision.

After seeing first-hand, for so long, from so many vantage points, the way they regard and treat my clients as well as myself- I have found without a doubt, that I do not agree with their practices on many levels.

I also did a lot of work myself around the pervasive idea that therapists and the helping professions must live paycheck to paycheck barely scraping by, unable to pay bills and student loans that were taken out in order for us to become therapists-and have no hope to ever retire. Ever.

I had to take great consideration around my education, experience and extreme amounts of continuing education along with many other factors. Know that I am not aware of any therapist who became a therapist in order to get rich! Quite the opposite.

I had to also consider the fact that most of us humans have money mindset struggles. We can tend to jump to awfully quick conclusions and judgments when it comes to paying for services as well as many other money mindset concerns.

As a therapist I need to practice what I preach and do my own money mindset work and be able to have those sometimes awkward convos with prospective clients and clients around money bc unfortunately I do have to follow a business model like any other business as much as it totally stinks.

As a mindful therapist I have to be able to go to some of these long neglected and forgotten realms of our minds- including money issues which impact us all in various ways! I wouldn’t be a thorough therapist if I just skimmed right by all this education and awareness around people’s money mindset struggles!

Please keep in mind- Insurance companies are a for-profit business making their profit when people pay out more than they utilize and this influences their decisions, as a third, outside-party regarding if they will cover your treatment, length of treatment and the kinds of decisions they make in policy changes.

Insurance companies (a third-party) also have access to your private files if you choose to utilize them and they do require that you are given a mental health diagnosis in order to be treated that is forever in your medical history. For-ever ever? Yes!

The low reimbursment rates provided by insurance companies also mean that providers must see a much greater number of clients per day, per week, per month. This is why therapists have such an extremely high rate of burnout and of leaving the profession.

I am very passionate about the work that I do and about each and every one of my clients. I’ve been around long enough to do all the work I have needed to do for myself so that I could come up with the best biz model which includes- with great intention- that I keep a lower caseload of clients so that I can provide the best possible service to my clients as well as be a better and more balanced human (again-gotta practice what I preach). :)

Cancellation Policy

There is a 24-hour cancellation policy - notify of cancellation within 24-hrs of your session or you may be subject to a full charge for session time as that space may have been utilized by someone else. I am a boutique, individual practice, very intentionally seeing only a smaller caseload of clients so that I may best serve my clients.

Therefore no-shows are also subject to a full session charge.

If something’s going on- hey let’s talk about it next session! That’s what therapy is for after all- if cancellation or no-show seems to be an issue we can get to the bottom of it and work through it like anything else :)
